John Barrington was a British photographer whose work with the male nude from 1948 until his death in 1991 caused him to be prosecuted numerous times. As a gay cultural entrepreneur, he helped create the first market for physique and beefcake photography in England. He counted Jean Cocteau, Noel Coward, Franco Zeffirelli and Gore Vidal among his friends.
